THE OPPORTUNITY

We are in the process of recruiting a General Manager for a 15-month contract.

Reporting to the Co-CEOs, the General Manager will manage the daily operational needs of the organization, troubleshooting issues, and acting as a liaison between staff, senior leaders, and the Co-CEOs. 

While the Co-CEOs will focus their efforts on developing external strategies and relationships to support organizational growth and development, the General Manager will focus on organizational productivity, organizational culture and staff well-being, and maximizing interdepartmental collaboration and communication.


SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES  
 

  • Maintains line of sight on all operational aspects of the design and build of the Equality Fund working in close collaboration with the CFO and Director of HR/Operations;
  • Improves current processes and coordinates organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity;
  • Creates and maintains collaborative cross-departmental relationships to manage surge capacity, tracks and meets deliverables and deadlines, understands work planning dependencies, and enables leadership success critical to the organization
  • Interfaces directly with various external stakeholders on behalf of the executive office and acts as a representative of the Equality Fund at public events as required
  • Acts as a strategic partner, advisor and sounding board to the Co-CEOs, including strategically supporting their time management, appointments and involvement in projects
  • Attends meetings and calls on behalf of the Co-CEOs; works with the Executive Assistant to evaluate stakeholder meeting opportunities and to determine fit with priorities
  • Supports all teams behind the scenes to solve problems before they are brought to the attention of the Co-CEOs
  • Coordinates and leads regular senior management and staff meetings, as well as coordinate regular meaningful staff retreats
  • Works closely with Communications team to draft and review internal and external communications coming out of the executive office (emails, correspondence, speeches, presentations, etc.)
  • Defines, benchmarks, executes, and evaluates EF objectives for organizational culture, learning, and employee well-being within a feminist environment
  • Works with senior management team on special projects
  • Manages staff and contractors in the executive office and holds horizontal relationships with all senior management


QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • Openness to work on cross functional/multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities, to steer in new/different directions;
  • 7+ years of progressive experience;
  • University degree required, ideally in business;
  • Previous experience in not for profit or development sector;
  • Organized and strong ability to manage many files at once;
  • Experience providing strategic advice to senior management;
  • Good judgement;
  • Exceptional tact and communication skills;
  • Deep understanding of feminist ways of working and principles;
  • Ability to get along with others;
  • Detail oriented while able to see the big picture;
  • Relationship builder;
  • Can do/Anything is possible mindset!
